Buttons and Controls
Manual Entry
If a package won't scan, you can enter its tracking number here. If PostalPoint can't detect the carrier, you will be prompted to select the correct one from a list.
Keep the Mail Safe
Click the button to review which shipping labels are not allowed in the USPS network. If a prepaid package has a prohibited label and has US postage or a USPS shipping label, do not accept it.
USPS QR Code
You can print USPS labels from a Label Broker QR code here. Enter the customer's ZIP Code and either scan the QR code or enter the Label Broker ID shown below the QR code. The prepaid label will be downloaded from the USPS server and printed on your shipping label printer.
Once the label is printed, scan it to add the tracking number to the customer's receipt.
You can configure a fee for printing labels in the Business and Branding settings. This fee will be automatically added to the sale for you
Label Scanning Guide
Most shipping labels have multiple barcodes, and not all of them are scannable in PostalPoint. Here are instructions for finding the correct barcode on commonly-encountered labels.
For clarification, as used below a 1D barcode is a series of vertical lines of different thicknesses, and a 2D barcode looks similar to a random "TV static" pattern, usually comprised of small black and white squares arranged in a grid. A QR code is a type of 2D barcode. Not all barcode scanners can read 2D barcodes; if yours can't, it's time to upgrade! They can be purchased for as little as $20 at the time of writing. See Supported Hardware for suggested scanner models.
USPS
Scan the large barcode between the horizontal black lines, or scan the small square 2D barcodes that are usually to the left of the to address or in the bottom-right corner of the label. Scanning the 2D barcode at the top of a label will not work.
USPS tracking numbers are typically 22-30 digits long and start with a 9, containing only numbers. International USPS tracking numbers start with two letters, then nine numbers, then "US".
UPS
Scan the large 1D barcode on the bottom half of the label. Do not scan the 2D barcode with the "target" in the middle, or the smaller barcode to the right of the 2D barcode.
UPS tracking numbers start with "1Z", contain both letters and numbers, and are typically 18 characters long.
FedEx
Scan the large 2D barcode below the to address that has the thick vertical bars on the left and the right.
If that barcode does not scan, you can try scanning the 1D barcode at the bottom of the label, but you should always try scanning the 2D code first because it contains useful information such as the destination address.
FedEx tracking numbers are 12 or 14 digits long and are only numbers.
DHL Express
Scan the barcode that has text beneath it starting with "JJ". If that doesn't work, scan or key in the air waybill (AWB) number.
DHL packages can be tracked with either the "J" code or the air waybill number, which is typically 10 digits long.
Other Carriers
You can try scanning barcodes for other carrier labels, but they are not likely to work correctly.
If PostalPoint doesn't recognize a barcode, it will assume the barcode contains a tracking number, and will ask you to select the package's carrier. If the scanned barcode is not in fact a tracking number, you should key in the tracking number manually (see Manual Entry below).
Plugins
Plugins installed in PostalPoint have the ability to intercept and handle a prepaid barcode scan. This allows support for other carriers and barcodes to be added without changing PostalPoint's internal code. If you have plugins installed, you may experience a different experience when scanning barcodes on the Prepaid screen.
